Being late is inexcusable, but sometimes inevitable. This is something that you would not want to be a habit. However, there are just those days in which you get all tangled up with keeping up with punctuality. It could be because you have gone out of bed late or you have been caught in a heavy traffic or sudden errands and emergencies. Whatever the reason may be, it’s difficult to be late especially when you’re still a student. The time you have missed means a portion of your grades being taken away so easily. But since it cannot be avoided at times, here are some tips for students on how to deal with this unfortunate dilemma:

1. You must never fail to seek for the good things in bad times. Well, talk about being positive. When you’re late, you tend to do things a bit hastily. Due to your rapid movements, your lazy bones will surely be worked out and put into proper action. This entire rush to get into your destination is a form of exercise on its own. Simply imagine the amounts of calories and bits of pounds being shed from your body out of brisk walking without any early morning jogs, fun runs, or gym treadmills.
2. Make yourself “invisible”. On your way to school, focus your eyes on your path and not much on the people around so that you wouldn’t be noticed easily. It is not the best time to catch a friend or an acquaintance for a small chit-chat. Frankly speaking, that would only eat your already-wasted time. However, if it cannot be helped, just excuse yourself immediately but politely.
3. Once you have reached your classroom, do not enter abruptly. Catch your breath first and compose yourself. If it is still possible, make a quick trip on the restroom to freshen yourself up. When you’re done, be sure to open the door of your classroom as quiet as you can. It is very disrespectful to loudly barge in during the class or lecture. Head to your seat with silent strides and polite gestures. If you are always a latecomer, it is very wise to choose a seat near the door so that your arrival won’t create much distraction.
4. Do not start an argument with your professor over the reason of your tardiness especially when you don’t have any valid one. You wouldn’t want him to threaten you with a grade deduction for misconduct. How ever you defend yourself, you can never win, for in the first place what you’ve done is inexcusable. Your professor will always be right, and you will always be wrong. Simply digest everything that he will say to you, directly or indirectly, so that the class can continue immediately. Your professor’s words are words of wisdom nonetheless.

These tips are not very healthy when you find yourself doing them. Hopefully, you wouldn’t need to use these friendly tips. Remember to avoid being late as much as you can.
