Here are some tips on changing big or small things in your life: Changing a room layout Changing the layout of a room can give an impression of bigger space or promote brightness to a dull room. The first thing to do is to make a new focal point such as a fireplace or a cupboard. Arrange chairs and side tables around your focal point. Avoid placing sofas in a diagonal angle as this creates wasted space. One tip from designers is to follow the “three feet rule”: If you are sitting down on the couch and want to put something on a coffee table, you should not be able to reach more than three feet, and an opening should be at least three feet wide. After making an alteration on the layout, survey how people use it. Check problem areas such as pass-through areas you created but are not being used. Make the necessary changes in order to make a better layout. Getting rid of last song syndrome (LSS) There’s nothing more annoying than getting a song stuck in your head. All of us have experienced this and have no idea how to get rid of it. Sometimes we just forget about the song, but other times we just sing it out throughout the day. These catchy tunes that tend to stick in your head are called earworms. Here’s a tip: Sing it through until the end of the song. End the unfinished loop by singing the whole song or listening to it all the way in order to attain completion of the song. If you can’t remember the lyrics, make up your own words for the song. If your remake song gets stuck in your head, too, listen to an unfamiliar music that lacks the catchy tone. You can also listen to complex music such as Mozart. Changing your clothing style If you feel like your style has lost its flair, try going through fashion magazines before shopping for clothes. Check out pictures of women with looks you like. On your shopping trip, start with the items you’ll wear the most. If you’re feeling drab and would like to change your style, try bright colored clothing. This usually reflects a vibrant personality and will help uplift your mood. Try on different clothes until you find the one you’re looking for. You can talk about...
